ICD10Insight publishes reference material, not medical or billing advice. Every code, note and guideline on this site is taken from official sources and can be traced back to them. Nothing on this site is generated by AI.
Purpose
Our purpose is to provide accurate, fast, and official ICD-10-CM data for medical coders. We do not provide medical advice.
Our sources
Reference data is taken only from primary official sources:
- ICD-10-CM code data and notes — the official CMS/NCHS ICD-10-CM tabular list, codes file and addenda for the current fiscal year (FY 2027, effective 1 October 2026).
- Coding guidelines — the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting published by CMS and NCHS.
- Coverage information — the CMS Medicare Coverage Database (LCD, NCD and Billing & Coding Articles).
Where a source is used, the page it appears on names it, and code detail pages link back to the official documentation so any statement can be verified independently.
How content is produced
Our team extracts data directly from official CMS files. Every code, Excludes note, and guideline is cross-referenced with the official CMS Tabular List and FY 2027 guidelines before publishing.
Medical and coding review
All content is reviewed by our team of qualified coding professionals who hold relevant certifications (like HIPAA). We ensure that no AI-generated medical coding data is published; AI is only used for parsing clinical notes and spelling correction.
Reviewers are chosen for their coding and clinical expertise, and have no commercial interest in the content they assess. Any reviewer with a conflict of interest must declare it and is excluded from reviewing the affected content.
Our AI policy
AI is used in two narrow, clearly bounded ways: correcting spelling in search queries, and suggesting candidate codes when a reader pastes a de-identified clinical note. In both cases the output is a suggestion for a human to check.
AI is never used to generate code descriptions, Excludes notes, coding guidelines or coverage data, and an AI-suggested code that cannot be matched in the official dataset is shown as unverified rather than presented as valid.
Accuracy, updates and corrections
The reference content is reviewed every time CMS publishes a new ICD-10-CM release, addenda or guideline update, and whenever a reader reports an error. Keeping the site current is the responsibility of the ICD10Insight editorial team.
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the code or page and a link to the official source. Corrections that change what a page states are made directly, and the page's updated date is changed to reflect it.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationship. Sponsorship, advertising or any other commercial interest is kept separate from editorial decisions and never influences the reference content published on this site.
